Thursday visit, redo
Jim and I were scheduled to be in town last week on Wednesday, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Hopefully the ice/rain/snow won’t keep us out of Corsica this week. (And a great big appology to the group of guys we skipped out on at 9:30 am that day–sorry about the miscommunication!)
We will be in town Thursday morning (Dec. 28) . If you’d like to visit, just give us an email or phone call. See you soon, and Happy Holidays from the Rural Learning Center,
Joe Bartmann

Hands on education
Corsica high school senior students will be doing things a bit differently in the new year. This senior class will be the first graduating class to complete an educational capstone experience called a Senior Project. The project will be incorporated heavily in the English curriculum during the second semester. Students will be researching the Corsica area, and developing products out of their research.
The Rural Learning Center is developing ways to effectively engage youth in rural communities, and will partner with the Corsica School District on the project. The students will work with the Rural Learning Center throughout the semester.
The students will focus their research on three different academic tracks, including Community Design, Understanding Place, and Entrepreneurship. All of the tracks encourage students to get out into the community and learn from the people who live and work in Corsica.
The RLC is excited to partner with the school district on this project! If you would like to know more, send us an email! You can see a detailed description of the tracks here.
Thanks,
Lindsey

Talking Housing Development
Jim Beddow and I will be in town on Monday, Dec. 11. We’ll complete a handfull of follow-up interviews with some folks in the afternoon, and then meet with the Corsica Housing Commission at 7pm at the Community Center. You are invited. We’ll be talking about the new housing development in the southeast part of town and the upcoming Community Design Project (learn more). Folks from Planning and Development District III and the Netherlands Reformed Church building committee will also join the discussion.
If you would like to visit with Jim or me while we’re in Corisca, just drop us an email by Friday.
